Claims to fame

Leading on from the "interesting finds" and "best thing you have ever won" threads I thought I would start another.........what are your claims to fame (or immediate family members claim to fame to broaden it a bit).

I have a couple of personal ones but for various reasons (mainly legal) I can't mention them for a good few years yet 🙁

One I can mention though is that my Dad was the team leader of the team at Sunseeker who built the Sunseeker Superhawk boats used in the James Bond film - "The World is Not Enough". One full spec operating boat built, with another which was adapted by the special effects team, and another which was just a hull and top deck.

As Andy Warhol famously once said -"Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes"

I once dated Graham Nash's sister Sharon, She won't remember me now. Graham Nash of the Hollies Crosby, Stills. and Nash etc.

I was in a queue in a small village shop with one other person in front. I coughed and accidentally let out he loudest fart ever! The bloke in front turned round and gave me a smile.
was cliff Richard.

Once met Max Boyce in the Everglades Hotel, Derry, shared a drink with Cannon & Ball in DeVere hotel Blackpool, had seen their show and were staying at same hotel as us.

Got "Le God" Matt Letissier to sign my greasy kebab paper in a kebab shop in Southampton, I was rather drunk at the time. the mrs wasnt impressed when I woke her up at 3am to show her my prized posession. Still have it !! (he was still playing at the time)

Have tiled a couple of floors the the queen mother and princess ann walked on.And did have *** and a chat with Norman Wisdom in Margate.and worked with a chap who fitted Carol Vorderman's kitchen now I would of loved to have tiled that, and worked with a couple of lift fitter's who work at Beckingham palace they said that she was hard work.

The only semi famous person I've worked for is Marlon Harewood (ex Forest, Villa, West Ham, Newcastle). There's a fella in our town who owns a few pubs/clubs and Steve McFadden and G G Gareth Gates can be seen drinking out in town quite often, both fairly pleasant people, they must get fed up being approached constantly.

Tiled a few footballers houses over the years but not being into football I wasnt that impressed and cant remember their names....Derek Doogan was the only name I can rememeber oh Richards ? Both Wolves players. Dont think Doogan was actually playing at the time. Turned down a Steve Bull job !
I tiled the Central TV News presenters house Bob Warman. I think he has moved now and has had issues with the latest tilers who fixed to a Anhydrite screed.
Did some work for a Aussie pop star ( actually English but the No 1 was in Aussie charts) Starskee ( Jolyon Barker), Hit song was Midas Touch or My Way ...cant rememeber.
And if rumours were to be believed , back in the late 70`s my dads firm who i was with at the time did some work at a house used by Black Sabbath.

Im friends (ISH) of Marlon & Alison!

Best famous customer was OBE himself (Sir Brian Clough)

Here is brief story

I was serving a lady back 20 yrs ago, we got chatting when i noticed on her cc her name was Clough, me being a cocky LS i said "any relation" to which Mrs Clough said yes, his wife!

Loaded her boot full of tiles, only to glance in the drivers mirror and there he was, #Starstruck i managed an hello.....to which he replied something like "thank you young man!"

brian clough one of middlesbroughs famous sons, along with don revie, chris rea,i digress tiled a few footballers pads, tiled a bathroom for the guitarist from whitesnake or some other rock group, once got taken to the cells after a band i was in supported the king crabs, whose lead singer was jimmy nail, he is just as scary in real life,

Being famous and being approached constantly?! Nightmare mate, I wear sunglasses and a rubber nose most days so I don't get noticed 🙂
 well I did notice the red nose, oh no sorry that was Phill! Haha

my dad used to drive the arsenal team bus but as a spurs suporter i was not that impressed 🙂

Went to the same school as Gary Numan (ask Doug who he is) and Alan Knill (footballer / Welsh international / now unsuccesful manager of various footy clubs). Not at same time as the singer, but...

Also chatted to 'Arry Redknapp down the beach whilst we were both walking our dogs. He had just taken over at Super Spurs...but he was wearing a bloody West Ham coat. Really nice guy - ended a phone call to chat to me.

Ok, I once walked past Jason Robinson whilst walking through Chester one lunch time. He was in a hurry and talking on his mobile phone. But seriously, he's the only famous person I've ever seen that close up that I can remember.

I've met a few 'celebs' over the years. Recent ones to date are driving past Linda Robson in Loughton few days ago, pricing jermain defoes mothers four bathrooms and getting goldsteins job (levy of spurs partner). Used to have access to nufc players lounge on a regular basis. Met shearer, John major and and walked into gemma from Towie with a kebab wrap in hand whilst she got papped outside mojoes in South Woodford Christmas past. Few others but can't remember.

people i have tiled for over the years.
roman abramovich( chelsea) x 2 / daniel levy ( tottenham )
edward heath ( prime minister . second job i ever did and sacked half way through for laying his tiles upside down!!! )
eric clapton ,robert smith ( the cure) , kate bush ,nick lowe !
ade edmundson and jennifer saunders ,antony worral thompson (chef and shoplifter)
des oconnor ( likes a super brew and early starter !)
lord puttenham (film director)
numerous other mps and general all round known owners of massive multi nationalsbut not intesresting to mention.
out of all of these i suppose the ted heath one was the most stressfull. it was only because i had not a clue what i was doing really but neither did anyone else. the tiles were 3ft x 3ft x 1 inch
i was up the whole night when dave and i realised that we had laid them upside down and we had to get them up quick.

I am sorry but i should have added that about twenty something plus years ago, Brian Tuitt ex drummer for Bad Manners had some time to fill in and worked for me for a while
we have mutual friends and am pleased that he has got back in to what he loves.

Just remembered, one of my ex-school mates went on to play professional cricket for Northamptonshire (Dave Ripley),. When he was at school he had the choice of joining Leeds United as pro or cricket for Northants. What a choice, he did excel at sport though.

My wife has met many famous people in the hotel where she works. To name a few, Tina Turner, U2, Westlife, Beckham and rest of England team, Real Madrid team, Glenn Hoddle, David Jason, Jason Donovan.......Oh how the rich live...

Oh god loads !! how about in-famous , few underworld peep's even witnessed a bullet being shown to a guy who was being threatened by one :yikes: few criminals and scammers , they all had henchmen who fill -in lol:thumbsup:
