personally i'd be putting this in writing to them at this point.
Most small works between tradesmen and customers are based on trust both ways, which is fine and the way I prefer it but as soon as that trust is gone you are on dodgy ground. So get it all in writing now so if the worst happens you have been seen as the first person to have tried to find a solution. Personally I'd state I would be happy to carry on the works but the constant changes are delaying things and once items are ordered especially custom made ones such as the window are non-returnable and chargeable. Say any further changes to the design are fine but will also incure costs either by extra works or down time chargable a x amount per day. I'd draw up a weekly payment schedule too if this is going on for a while so they can never get too much in debt to you.
