Did I get a bad tiler? Please help

Yeah he's part of the council trusted safe trader scheme so I cant see him running away to be honest. I'll email him so I have proof etc

i cant see how he has managed to get so far out of line surely after the second tile up you would realise that the tiles dont line up.

Right graig what adhesive did he use? was it in a bag that he mixed with water or was it a pre paste in a tub?

if it was the second one you may be able to salvage a lot of the tiles as they tend to come off easier aslong as you dont leave them too long.

Sorry to say but i doubt if this guy will be back to rectify his mistakes. If i was you i would bite the bullet and have another tiler look over the work and see what can be done.

The adhesive was in a big tub which was already made up.

Or I could ask him for some of the money back to pay someone else to do it?

That's a good thing,just keep bugging him until he corrects it,if he doesn't hurry up let him know you're going to get some people in the trade in for their opinion.If he thinks his name and workmanship is going to take a bashing he may rectify it quicker than he's planning on.Get his local tile distributer to come out and quote how much a refix would cost,once they know his name it won't be long before everyone knows his workmanship isn't up to par.

Sorry to be negative, but as above that work is appalling I served a 5 yr apprenticeship 43yrs ago. My work in the afternoon of my 1st day would have looked like that. If this guy is trading as a pro tiler it is a scandal imo:mad2:

I didnt even have to enlarge the pic to see it was out. Its horrendous! Do you know what adhesive he used? If it was a tubbed adhesive you could pull them off the wall and clean them up before they go off. (If it was tubbed and he has grouted them then the adhesive wont set too quick so dont panic you probably have weeks to take them down....)

Yeah,I'd be pulling them off before you write your next thread,don't wait for him just do it yourself.Like Scottley said the adhesive probably hasn't set yet and you can clean it up easy,but if you wait for the "Artless Dodger"it may get messy.

is it 2 shower walls??
with a big grout line where the 2 walls meet?

has he just gone full tile from the corners on both walls & off an un-level shower base or something?

I'm not sure about his excuse re "I only tiled over what was already there"?

How long ago was it done? As previous posts say, you might be able to remove them, give them a good soak & re-use them.

As for the tiler footing the bill - I very much doubt he'lll pay for the tiles & comeback to rectify it out of his own pocket & time - definately not if he's on nearly £100 an hour!

ok,either email him and ask him to come and rectift it properly at his won cost including new tiles or ask him for the money back so you can pay another tiler to do it properly,i doubt he will do either to be honest

maybe best to see what he says then move onwards and upwards

NOt one to put another tilers work down.but have to agree.that needs re-done.looks like no working out has been done at all,joints dont match and that gap in that corner should not be there either not a good job.R you sure the fellas a tiler
