Did I get a bad tiler? Please help

he isnt a tiler, DO NOT let him in your home again even if you have to swallow the 100 pound. but chase, chase, chase your money he will soon give you the money back.

You could pull them off yourself if its just been done recently as the tubbed addy will still be wet. That way you will save the tiles.

Hey all

My first post. Just had my bathroom tiled - he isn't 100% finished yet as had to order more tiles. The tiles in one of the corners don't line up with the others. View attachment 22796

See the image it's obvious they aren't Do I get the tiler to take them all off on that wall and ask if he will pay for the new tiles?


I've asked him via email and he says its something to do with the wall but I'm not convinced!

I paid him £100 to tile 4 m2.

I wouldn't even worry about pulling the tiles off, come tomorrow morning that lot will be all over the bathroom floor.

I see the wall was painted, what prep work did he do to the wall?

He didnt do any prep work - he put the adhesive straight onto the painted walls.

He rang me tonight saying that he will do the wall again if I buy the tiles!!!

He said on the phone he isnt sure how he made a mess of it!!!

I need to be blunt....he made a hash of it because he didn't know what he was doing. He hasn't taken the walls being off plumb into account and cut the tiles accordingly. I doubt if he's even put a level against the walls. Don't let him waste any more of your money.

Seriously though that's very poor, it looks like he has lost his levels for sure.
If he used battons then at least one was not level.
He rushed it hoping for a quick buck.
Got his buck but bucked up the job.

i dont want to sound like im making things worse but any tiler would have to prep the walls as its the most important part, wrong prep could end in tiles on floor. also saying he doesnt know how he made a mess of it is ridiculous!! its bad because hes not competent enough to tackle such a small job and just doesnt care. please dont let him do them again you could end up with him just smashing them off the walls, then will he fix the walls......... trust me dont let him back and chase your money. sorry to sound harsh but honesty is the best policy.

Ah.....

The first picture was an extreme close up, they looked like individual 4 inch tiles. Its still unacceptable though.

What make was his ready mixed adhesive? Did he leave his tub behind?

just had a look at the other photo's........omg........:yikes::yikes::yikes: take a look at the 3rd piccy
the grout lines are all over the place and that tile at the sink edge has been cut straight and short and then filled with silicone. We all know that he has the right to atleast attempt to rectify the problem before you can legally chase him for the money BUT personally i would rather lose the £100.00 and employ a proper tiler, Just get them tiles off the wall asap
to salvage as many as you can mate.

The adhesive he used was tile shed own make stuff in Orange tub. He done the work on Saturday morning so it will be all dry now or is it still worth trying to get them off?

I think they will pop straight off and just clean down and re-tile with them.. worth a go anyway... your job tomorrow morning craig..:lol:..

Just get a screw driver at the back of the tile and slowly take it off?
