has any one ever used a 'disconnecting mat' and what did you think? i worked with this method a couple of months back due to the fact that the screed we were tiling on to was gypsum based and was not compatible with the standard rapid set adhesive. you basically lay the fleece mating on the floor and tile onto it as normal, was quite worried as never used this product before and it was 70sqm of floor

We sell this system with decoupling mat and sealing folios. Available for indoor + outdoor use. Anything but underwater in swimming pools. Last objects were the indoor automatic car washing halls connected to the car dealers show room. No complaints until now.
I would like to advise but what question do you have in special as this is a big & variing subject to talk about.

Very common here. And a must on wooden grounds as german rules doesn´t allow direct tiling on wood as wood works and tiles not. So the decoupling mats are very common e.g.
- for tiling works in old houses with wooden floors,
- on ships where permanent small vibrations shall be damped and not transfered to the tile,
- on young concrete plaster if the object needs to be walkable again in a short time.
These are the 3 most where decoupling mats are used. Regards, Martin
