Unfortunately, we are years behind the likes of Spain, Germany, Italy, Ghana etc. We need to learn how to pass the ball to each other and keep possession. The opposition cannot score when you have the ball. Not wanting to dis Joe Hart for last night, but why the hell was he putting his foot through goal kicks for Andy Carrol to head on to an Italian defender and give them the ball back. You watch the top class teams and you will rarely see goalkicks wellied up the pitch. It's nearly always a short pass and a defender makes themselves available for the keeper.
They say lessons have been learnt. No they haven't, cos if they had we would have had a man marking Pirlo for 120 mins. He had so much time on the ball. How come nobody could see that.
