Exposed edges of tiles slightly visible after grouting

After grouting, the tiler that tiled my bathroom left the edges of some tiles slightly exposed (adjacent to the glazed surface), including in the area of the shower/bath. (To be fair, this was probably due to some areas of the wall being uneven.) What I would like to know is: could water penetrate the tiles to an extent that could be damaging?

Regardless of the condition of your wall and floors, your tiler should have finished the job lip free. Do you have any pics to help us with your question....?

Pics would be useful.It shouldn't matter that the walls are uneven, it's the tiler's job to get the finished wall flat.

as stewart says. and if the walls were bad the 'tiler' should have sorted them prior to tiling. you shouldn't have edges exposed

I agree, it's the tile at fault not the tiler.

The only real solution I have found in this situation is to get a fuller grout joint to cover the biscuit showing, only problem in your situation is that you will need to cut the grout back first as it has already set.

i have came across tiles like this before. not a good glaze on it so it shows the edge of tile even if there is no lip whatsoever
usually happens with cheaper white tiles, a fuller grout line might help.

Did the tiler grout or did you do it yourself. Or did I just read it in a different manner to everybody else... :whistling:

The tile in the photo is 'lipping' - that is, its edge is higher than the one next to it.

The exposed edge is only noticeable if you look really closely. Other edges are exposed similarly elsewhere.

Would it hurt to leave them as they are or should they be grouted again?

The tiler did the whole job and I'm beginning to wish she hadn't.

as you said they're in the shower area , was it tanked prior to tiling?

From one pic its hard to say was there any waterproofing what is the substrate and what adh was used is it a shower area and finally do the tiles absorb water (may cause pic framing)
