we also owned THE USA then you had the boston tea party,and did the right thing and kicked us out!!:8:rob Z if i have my history right the USA did send one ship to invade us lol, and depending on who's account you belive it failed :lol::lol::lol:
 
I have never been able to understand how countries can claim another as theirs even though they are separated by hundreds of miles by water. This might have been the norm in the 1700/1800's but its crazy to apply it now. Britain has ruled over Australia,America,South Africa, Ireland,Bermuda,Figi,Canada and New Zealand to name a few, only 80 years ago we controlled a quarter of the worlds population, 500 million at that time, if we were controlled by a small far away country I am sure we would all have different things to say and not a lot of people would accept it.

Money/Oil etc will always win in the end.

they were used as staging posts for the trade clippers to pull in and restock, if they had something we wanted we just sailed in there and took over

the falkland islanders are proud of their british heritage and dont want to be part of argentina, so it looks like our boys will be called on to defend them again
 
lets dont forget the faulklanders where put on the island to maintain our hold over the islands , and the real fight is over OIL:smilewinkgrin: not who own's the islands that are not of any real significance to us!!:8:

ill agree with that

geoligists have known for decades what kind ground produces oil and that the falklands has a seam under it

Oil seaps from the seabed in the seas off the Falklands. Lets hope some seaps up to the drillfloor in the next few weeks:thumbsup:
