you cant polish a turd mate, especially for free!
i would just grout and Silicon as normal and tell her the job was crap in the first place.

Yeah, sorry mate, had a bereavement.
Been a pretty painful couple of weeks.
I grouted up at weekend and applied the Silicon using corner tape. The angle was a little too flat and the applicator was not correct for the angle. I'll try and get a few pictures up of the finish.
