If the backer boards are there to tank the area and the customer is as keen as you say then the joints will need taping which you havnt allowed for m8

As wetdec said you'll have to tape the joints, backerboard to backerboard and where backerboard meets the shower tray, but i'm unsure as to where you can buy the tape alone, maybe wetdecs can help you out...

The TYPE of tape in this kit is what wetdec is talking about i think..

BAL WP1 Tanking System
tanking.jpg
A light grey, flexible, seamless tanking system comprising an acrylic primer, an acrylic-based coating, polyester tape and matting. Specifically designed to provide a watertight barrier to walls and floors beneath ceramic tiling. For both domestic and commercial applications, including kitchens, bathrooms and toilets. Not recommended for use externally, in conditions of total water immersion or as a barrier to prevent ingress of water from the background/base. Suitable for use with underfloor heating. Suitable for use on brick, concrete, cement : sand rendering, plaster, plasterboard, cement : sand screeds, wooden floors, and ceramic tiles. Resistant to limited background/base movement and vibration.

Speak to wetdec as he might be able to supply you with the tape!

I know I should have suggested the whole tanking system from the start.

as to my trim based question what would you suggest ?

You quantify it yourself fella only you know how much you have to start somewhere. As we are all in different circumstances and areas you couldnt make a serious comparison.

ok, so what about my trim question ?

Can you get trim that will cover the corner and meet both sides or is there anything else I can do rather than leaving one rough edge in view ?

Silicon the internal corner and when the shower screen is installed fix the tiles to meet the screen and Silicon the seems...no trim needed imo
