Discuss floor tiles running parallel? in the Best Floor Tiles area at TilersForums.com.

Hi there,
I've got a tiler in at the moment working on the floor. Came back couple of hours later and three quarters of the tiles are down but the tiles don't seem to be in alignment with anything such as the walls, kitchen units etc - i.e, the width of the tiles seem to taper down towards the corners quite dramatically. The tiles appear to 'sweep' across, independent of anything rather than lined-up against any of the kitchen features, as you can see above. Is this normal way of doing things for some tilers? Thanks

Not normally but without seeing the whole floor it's hard to pass judgment accept if you get a wall which is not parallel to the rest of the kitchen you try to get a biggest cut you can so it's not so noticeable would suggest asking the tile shop where you brought the tiles from if they could have a look for you some times every thing is out of square and you have to take the mean difference of everything

Ok, thanks. The kitchen is only narrow, but there are no apparent angles and a quick tape measure confirms there's nothing more than a couple of mils, if anything. We've asked for the tiles to go through to the adjoining back passage area to the door, (first pic on left). This back area is also rectangular. He's coming back tomorrow to do the cuts and grouting. Just rang the bloke, told him I'm not happy and I'm gonna lift them now before the adhesive sets. Thanks for all the replies.
