Thanks Mark, I didn't supply any materials on this job, I did suggest Ditra to the client but he did a deal with CTD for all tiles adhesives G mat etc. The thing that really bugs me is that I advised them to go for a decoupling membrane thinking I was saving them any issues in the future, it seems I was wrong.
Yeah but when you advised on decoupler you did not have hindsight regarding the pattern of g mat falures. This will be hard for you to accept but IMHO, this is not your problem. I honestly know your not looking for a way out of this phil but I think this is a direct issue between client and supplier considering you not only advised a different product but you never supplied the materials. ... You have a million times more experience than me but you know I'm making sense eh.

not wrong you relied on up to date infomasion at the time .we all like to move with the times but some times we are used like test dummys on new prouducts .so they can iron out the problems .the great shame of this that so many new very early that there were problems with this prouduct .but the tile world is so fragmented .keeping tilers and retalers in the dark .how anybody can change this is the big question.your best bet here is to ask them to send you reports when the problems first started to apare and tell them you are doing your own to compare .with theres .how early did they know they had problems .before you used it .prove this and they wount have a leg to stand on .why did it take so long to with draw it from the market. when was there offical recal .and what did they do for tilers who had used this did they receive letters saying there might be problems asking them to declare jobs were this had been used .all a deralition of duty if not hope this helps

It was not exactly a new product .. it was just a bad batch that was made within a certain period for certain suppliers... it was sorted after that period but that does not give belief in a product that has failed in the past.. hence why Dural moved away from said manufacturer ..

Mr Hobson, listen to yourself fretting over this decoupling membrane that you did not supply. Firstly to my mind you advised the client correctly regarding the decoupling membrane. However he then did his own sweet thing and went for a lookalike...imitation of the real thing. You cannot beat yourself up over this, deep breath have a drink and stop beating yourself up. Also I might add you rang Dave, Gary and Deano...I just checked my phone and there was no missed calls....story of my life!

IMHO, orange is best, full stop.

Sorry Lynn, I didn't have your number in my phone, also Dave, Gary and Deano are all macho men. You being a blonde bombshell, I would have trouble explaining to my wife Julie why I have such an attractive young ladies phone number.

Hope this is not sexist, I know you are a true professional and I am just being being flippant. But the blonde bombshell bit is true, I am old so I must be allowed to appreciate beauty coupled with brains, thanks for the advice Lynn, and please don't take offense at my MCP comments they are meant as a compliment:thumbsup:
