Ground Floor Wet Room

Hi All,
My mother-in-law wants her ground floor bathroom converted to a wetroom. The room has a wooden floor and has been told that she would require a concrete base laid. Is this true?

You don't need a concrete base, a frame will need to be constructed to support the tray and the floor needs to be deflection free. Are you getting someone in to do this?

You dont need a concrete base u can buy a base that fits straight onto your joists, make the floor deflection free before hand and add more noggins where appropriate, overlay with hardie board or some other brand, there is alot that goes into wet rooms so if your doing it yourself make sure you research very in depth!!

Many thanks for the info. I am not sure whether she is getting someone in to do it yet. But she was initially told that she would need a concrete base.
