grout shadeing

welcome Andy,
as u have been tiling for quite sometime i think we can rule out user error.
Im quite sure you know of all the reasons that grout will dry patchy.

many tilers have run into the same issues with that brand of grout, even if you were to rake out the grout in sections and replace its very hard to match the grout shade, every batch is differant and of course it also depends how much water u mixed it with and how much u used to wipe off, to many variables IMHO

use the grout colourant mate :8:

Regards

Trev

hi how old is the job and what do they use to clean it with just a thought as it might be the cause of the problem:8:

Hi andy allen

I just used a standard grout rake (diamond tipped). I dont trust myself with angle grinders to remove grout. There was about 20-25 different areas on the walls that needed raking out, only took a couple of hours. 30m2 bathroom.

jobs only week old ,did google grout shading one suggestion that come up was that miosture content in the grout could be different where some jionts are fuller than others due to adhesive in jionts being closer to surface ;they say to wipe a damp sponge over a dark and light patch if it goes the same colour but drys back the same then the more its wetted the more it wll come together
