hiya chaps, just a bit of a query really for future reference, for the benifit of newbys like me , under what circumstances would u use this on floors, and how

is it instead of 18mmWBP on a wooden floor,is it used cos its cheaper than the ply or easier to manhandle,cheers steve

Use 6mm hardi on top of the plywood, make sure the ply is firmly screwed down at 300ctrs first, followed by the hardi.

if you had a concrete floor and wanted to raise it to meet another level of floor then you could use it her also as i did.(small area though)

Reading through the threads here, You dont have to use it, thats what I thought you was asking, anyway you can go straight onto 18mm ply, 22mm ply is the preferred choice.

You certainly dont use it because it's cheaper or as an alternative

There are some members that say that 6mm hardie is a substitute for 18mm ply when overboarding. I disagree with this statement because as yet, no one has proved to me with documentary evidence that 6mm hardie has the same or better strength improvement.

What is does do however, is give a more stable surface to be tiling onto. Ply as in all timber reacts quite a lot to thermal and moisture variations, cement based boards do not.
