Use the appropriate adhesives for the tile type / substrate on either side and use an expansion joint where the two substrates meet to seperate the substrates / tiles. Schluter have a good range of expansion joint profiles, visit their site. Just watch your cuts on the set out and try and make less obvious if you can .

You could also start a full tile either side of the break in the substrates and fill that joint with a matching coloured Silicon( cold ) joint....
