cant blame em for bringing their own grogg.

I did a few jobs in a castle near Kristanstad ten years back and we were paying
£ 6.00 a pint!!
Mind you the spectacle at 2am after the locals came out of hiding from their own pochine induced fuggle for last orders, and the antics and offers that ensued made it a country to remember!!
Dont think you pay tax on potato peelings , do you?

Hardly saw much of the local tradesforce as they were too busy warming their arses on the heated loo seats!!

I don't blame them for bringing their own drink; I blame them for removing money from the Swedish economy any way they can; for example, by selling alcohol they imported, and then sending the proceeds abroad. And that's not even mentioning taxes.

£6 for a pint? What?! I rarely pay more than £4 for imported beer, and that's at pubs! If I go to the systembolaget, which is the chain of stores with monopoly on selling alcohol in Sweden, I can get premium imported beer for just under £3... You must've bought it somewhere VERY expensive.

to be fair it was a bar with cover charge and music ( not live ) but worth it none the less when you spend all week in a small village which is absolutely dead.

I know where youre coming from sWE , but i just started to dream back to foreign travails and fond memories.
Like heating the frozen sand in the morning for a mix, if you could find it under the snow, before you could even think about earning a crust!!

Ah, I know that feeling. My "fond" memories are of Iceland 🙂 Tried my hand at farming, among other things. Lets just say, it wasn't for me...

"They all just bloody come over here sit on their arses, get a free house and goverment pays for everything"

or

"come over here and take all our jobs"

Poor people can't bloody win.

Can I ask everyone, would you take the opportunity for your family, if you were in their position.?....and be honest................Gaz

Sure, but I'd make bloody sure I was getting a wage which was fair and proportional to my knowledge and experience. No point in going abroad to work if you're starving at home, only to starve as much abroad. It's not like it's impossibe.

Proper, serious construction companies over here scream for manpower, and those who know a trade and atleast a few words of english, should have no trouble getting employed at a fair rate. I figure that many of the guest workers who come here think they have no choice but to accept crap wages and conditions, because they're guest workers. I think that's bull****, and I've met a few guest workers who would agree.
