Hello,I'm trying to make a 1.2m square moveable mat using underfloor heating cable and controller. It's for my girlfriend who's studio is in an unheated victorian mill building where no gas heating of any sort is allowed. Electric heaters are costing way too much;I've made a timber frame,inside which is 3.5mm ply,then 22mm polystyrene and am now stuck. Was going to put another 3.5 ply,heating cables embedded in adhesive and vinyl tiles. Now realize tiles will probably melt with heat,so if instead I put 10mm ply on top of polystyrene,is there an adhesive for solid tiles that will cope with the likely deflection?? Weird I know but I thought the experts might have ideas,I thought to bed ceramic tiles onto Silicon,but I've read many posts and threads and now am sure I'm just being a twit...

I would be inclined to use a tile backerboard or marmox etc. Tiled with single part flexible adhesive....but even 1.2m2 is going to be heavy to move around.

Heyup Mike,can't mess with the floorboards at all,studio is sublet,and also can't hope to heat the whole space so will occasionally move this small mat to where it's needed...

Hello again Sir Ramic,could you tell me why single part adhesive will be best? I've looked into epoxy adhesives too as I thought non of the cement based ones could cope with all that flexing. Am I wrong?

Hello again John,he he,I've just looked up Damart;I think if you saw how much sheepskin and warm crap I managed to make a woman as obsessed as she is with her appearance wear,you'd give me a medal. Warm toes are just the final challenge.
