Discuss HELP ceramic wall tiling on ply HELP PVA??? in the British & UK Tiling Forum area at TilersForums.com.
Spot on Joe, Bal do not recommend PVA at all, as soon as moisture hits it it becomes live or active again and gives no barrier at all....these are the primers to use and check the spec on which applications suits you.....Gazpva breaks down with moisture / water. need we say anymore about it?
Welcome to the forums baltas1, thanks for your input, the SBR is indeed styrene-butadiene copolymer, and has many uses within construction not only as a primer, but also as admixture and bonding agent.BAL do not recommend PVA with their products.
The primer that is recommended for a 4:1 dilution (for certain applications) is the BAL Bond which is an SBR (styrene-butadiene).
For MG/WBP plywood, it is recommended to prime the edges and reverse side with undiluted BAL Bond. For further info refer : http://194.223.92.131/pdf/Technical%20Data%20Sheets/B%20&%20C%20Technical%20Data%20Sheets/Bal_Bond_SBR.pdf
