Bad.
Very bad.

Did this 'tiler' give a reason for not following your plans??
Not that it matters, but probably so he could start on a full tile from 1 side, to leave a nice little slither on the other (as in pic 8).

My favorite though is pic 2.

It does my head in that I and many others are fighting like mad to keep work ticking over each week, yet this bloke has probably got a full diary.

Thanks everyone for confirming what I already knew. Words will be had tomorrow. In answer to a couple of questions the "tiler" is also plumbing in the bathroom/boiler and was sub-contracted as part of an extension project. 5k still owed and that will be going knowhere anytime soon. Thanks again for all the opinions, wish I'd come here first. Richard

Richard as many others have stated, this work is not acceptable. Did he claim to be a tiler? if so he is trading illegally imo. I do hope he has not/ will not be paid. Point him to this forum, he may just hang his head in shame,

It definitely pays to do a bit of groundwork first when taking on a project like this. Good luck and let us know how things progress

Maybe it would be wise to get someone in yo make sure the rest of the work he has done is to a decent standard. If so then you can use the money still owed to buy tiles and get thej job done right. Plus it may give you peace of mind

0 for and 30+against says it all.
There is nothing in these photos that would suggest that this person had any background in tiling, from the poor setting out to the poor cutting!
Something would have to be done immeadiately to have any chance of saving any tiles, but why bother, just get him to strip the lot off repair the walls/floor and replace all the materials used.
This is an issue with the main contractor to deal with and ultimately he will be held responsible.
Good luck.

Richard, we often get jobs on the tiling forum of very poor quality... I would need to rank this in 3rd place of worst jobs i have seen on here, so be under no illusion that it require a full rip out to put right. Thank god you didn't pay him!!
