Thanks for all the comments.

Have had a word with the project manager today and pointed out all the issues with the tiling that I could see. Have asked for the lot to be taken off and re-done. He's not made any argument so we'll have to see how the plumber/tiler takes it. If he doesn't seem happy with it for any reason I think we'll show him the door and get some quotes from decent tilers and bathroom fitters. Should the tiles not be re-useable then they can pay for the new ones.

At the end of the day I'm holding the final payment for the extension work, so unless it gets finished to a decent standard then they won't get any more money.

And ask to see the new tilers work prior to any work commencing if at all possible. That way you can make a judgement as to whether the standard will meet your expectations!

Keep us posted, it's nice to hear when these numptys are taken out of the equation. Hopefully good tilers will be able to pick up the work that they will now lose out on.

Morning all,

Had the "tiler" back in today despite saying we'd rather not have him try to fix the job. He pointed out various areas and admitted they were rubbish. I pointed out a few more. Said we weren't happy with him doing any more work on the bathroom. He left without a word (didn't even drink his tea). Now waiting to see if the project manager can come up with another bathroom fitter or otherwise we will be looking for one ourselves. Should we be needing anyone to quote I will post the job and ask for interested parties to PM me. Thanks again for all the comments it really helped me be clear on the right course of action.

Cheers, Richard

Coffee is from the Devil TJ, leave it alone.

Thanks for the update Richard, the 'tiler' clearly knew he'd been rumbled, hence the rapid exit. Good on you, stand your ground with these people, and I am going to repeat myself again, sorry, if the builder/project manager offer you another tiler, make sure you speak to previous customers and better still see his/her work. It may take a few hours of your time, but it will be time well spent.

Good luck
