once on dont play with them to much cause once backing softens buggers move all over. make sure u wipe any excess adhesive off that squashes thru. elliots spot on i use grout float too. helps if walls are flat aswell otherwise looks crap.... good luck man!!!!!!!!!

hi this is one of my first posts, i have just finished a 16sqm bathroom of mosiacs swimming pool size 12 x 11 sheets plastic net backings.

4 Sqm mulit coloured greys and whites
12 Sqm White

1. I have tried loads of different types of adhesives in the past from mapei, bal, Dunlop and Biscem and out off all them I found the Biscem the best and it sticks and spreads Well.
2. Walls need to be spot on perfect or forget it the job will look ****, u can only use a 3mm bed of adhesive max.
3. If its glue spots or plastic mesh backings you have the min amount of time to correct them once the backs get wet there shagged.
4. Cutting advice do not wet cut them while attached to mesh backing you can try dry cutting but 8 times out of 10 they will chip. Best option is to cut individual and wet cut.
5. BE patient because they involve a lot of work.
6. Grouting takes a lot longer and just use a hand sponge when wiping down and rub in a circular motion then left and right with lines and should be as good as pegging off.
7. Oh forgot if it’s a shower room or bathroom make sure walls are primed and by shower or bath tanked.

hope this helps

Hi, Never done much with Mosiacs, only as a boarder and that was very trying! How do you do a boarder if you can only use a 3mm bed, when I use a 6mm or 8mm for walls? There must be a art to cutting Mosics with nippers, I dont have it! Jeff

If the borders are quiet thin compared to the wall tiles then you could use cheap 6x6 tiles to use as a base for the mosaics to go onto.....

Hi, The bed being only 3mm, must be very shallow! what happens if the walls run out? Jeff
----
Hi Dave, Could use thin backer board behind Mosiacs in a strip I guess! Jeff

you've lost me now jeff....if u mean the walls running out as to using a 3mm trowel. then you need to make sure walls are very flat for best results with mosaics......as mosaics show every deviaton in the walls when it comes to corners..etc..
