Ok , I think it's safe to say the guy has held his hands up and has taken three pages of flack for it.

Give him the specs on how it should be done correctly so he can rectify this job (if the customer wants) and won't make the same mistakes in the future.

Any potential new members or guests reading this thread will probably not fancy joining on the grounds it's a really hostile place here.

So we also cannot protect our trade ..?... you go ahead and make it something it isn't but i am sick to the back teeth of i can do that trades peeps who naff up customers jobs and then come here expecting to be told how to do it right .. he took the advice of a builder and he has tiled for a few yrs he said ... so who is to blame..

We as Pro tilers are competing against these have a go not got a clue muppets .. might sound harsh i know but it is the truth.. i have helped countless peeps on here on how to do jobs but ask first and not go ahead and tile it on the say of a builder...

Most new readers would switch off after page one, never mind two....or three...

Point made - move on.

Sometimes you just have to look at the bigger picture.

Thanks ATS.

Also, Dave, I've been a member for a while, but I hardly ever come on here, but I understand your frustration. It must be difficult being better than everyone else.

Like I said before, this incident is a first, and definitely a last. I am aware this is a schoolboy error within the tiling trade, and a lesson has been learned. Please spare me with any of your further angry rants and help me some real advice in rectifying this situation:

I plan on taking up the UFH and 6mm ply and intend on using Nicobond 6mm tile backer, board fixed down with polyurethane glue and 25mm screws and washers directly on top of the chip board floor. Do I need to prime the backer boards before tiling on top? Will 6mm tile backer board eridacate the problem of tiles moving/grout cracking? I only plan on doing this once so I want to get it right.

Point 1 :
I've been a member for a while, but I hardly ever come on here

If you were unsure it would have been wise as a member to come on here and check would it not ..?

Point 2 :
It must be difficult being better than everyone else.

Not at all , it is called being a tiler by trade..

You need to take the lot up and eradicate any deflection in the floor first , simply boarding over might not do this.. then yes you can use a stable board , i'e' a cement board and lay the ufh on this and encapsulate the ufh in a suitable slc and tile on that... in the future do not take the word of a builder ... simples as that..

The Legend; Phil Hobson RIP

I can see where Dave is coming from and the other tiling pros, I can plaster, render, screed, lay bricks, do a bit of plumbing or joinery work, I can also juggle. But I am a time served real deal tiler, that is what I do, I would not dream of competing with other trades on their terms.

The phrase multitrader offends me to be honest, they used to be called jack of all trades, master of none, in this climate why are we subjecting the public to these ongoing disasters we read about them every night. Why can't we all stick to what we know?

Tiling when done right is not only a very skilled trade, but borders on being art. Sorry if this offends some people, but I don;t give a rats behind. I along with other members of this forum who are true craftsmen do resent our trade being diluted by wannabees. End of rant:mad2:
