English local government council web sites index what you do is find the local council in the area's you what to work in ,then go to the planning applications , this will show you who has been given permission to Carrie out work's then you send them your leaflet or card and general cover letter and wait for the telephone to ring off the wall, simples if you print out a general letter of introduction,plus envelopes, 2 class stamps, your away!! good luck

A mate who is a builder is doing his own extention and you would'nt believe the amount of letters he gets at the moment to price for the work.

its common practise amongst small builders

a lot of people apply for planning before speaking to a builder

not everyone gets the builder to finish inside, sometimes they get the shell up , watertight and plastered and then go looking for someone to finish or they may want to project manage that part of the job themselves, getting different trades in

so its well worth a punt and it does work
