New to this forum, and happy to see so much useful information about tiling.
While i'm here, maybe someone can help clear a bit of confusion going on in my head.
Started work on my bathroom, and got loads of tiling to do. Existing tiling has come down nicely, 200x300 ceramics, clean plastered walls.
I have some 300x400 ceramic tiles to go up, 8mm thick. My question is, what adhesive should i be using?
Can i get away with some extra grip ready mixed stuff? Seen some evo stik stuff and others that say they will take tiles upto 300x600. Maybe thats an exaggeration, but will they work on slightly smaller size? Would prefer to use ready mixed stuff as time is a little short.
I had previously put up some 300x300 tiles with ready mixed adhesive, to a wall when I had a shower put up above my bath. They stayed on perfectly and where pretty secure when i came to take them off.

Hello and welcome..

For that sized tile i would recommend a bagged cement based adhesive..

Where are you getting your tiles.. might get a suitable adhesive there..

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your quick reply. Got the tiles from good/bad old wickes :lol: Tiles are very nice, don't feel too heavy either, surprisingly similar in weight to the 200x300 tiles i took down which were held up with the ready mixed stuff.
Bagged adhesive you say? ok, will have a look at what wickies have on their shelves. Any particular type/spec i should be looking out for?

I would go for a slow setting one, then you will get less waste and you also need an acrylic primer for the walls..

daves advice is spot on,most tubbed adhesive states it is only suitable for tiles up to 330mm in size

yes bagged is the best!!, :welcome:to the forum dont buy your adisive from wick's go to a proper tile store , it's not as good at the diy store's

If you have a Tile giant close by then get some Mapei P9 adhesive in white..
