Bet there was loads of Jehovah Bystanders and absolutely no witnesses, but the main thing is you and your son are alright, what goes around etc.

As said. Main thing is you're okay. Though you would get out the car if you got hit, it's just nature, you're meant to swap details etc. Shame you couldn't get his reg, fail stop; fail report is taken pretty seriously by the courts and he'd have lost his license or at least got a load of points, if he has one. Could be classed as dangerous driving too him going over the pavement etc. That's prison-worthy.

I'm glad you and son are okay CJ.

I had a similar instance many years ago. A witness got the vehicle reg, so I reported everything to plod. They visited the owner of the vehicle and she denied it so they said they couldn't prosecute, even though I had 5 or 6 witnesses.

Unbelievably, I started working with a guy approx 5 years later and it turned out that it was his wife that caused the accident. Her recollection of events was exactly the same as mine; she even admitted lying to plod. Justice is rarely done IMO.

forgot to put in my post that my son got the reg number and wrote it down.....phoned the police with it last night.....police phoned me this morning(while up step ladder with a realy heavy porcelain tile i was about to apply above a window)....guess what.....the car was reported stolen 2 hours after i had reported the accident????????
police say that they cannot prove otherwise.

It doesn't surprise me Chris. You don't honestly expect the police to do any real work do you? Unless it lands in their lap, they'll always find an excuse, IMO.

I guess you have no description of the guy either then? Can they not check his phone call logs to see if he was on the phone at the time of the indecent if you say you saw him on it. If he was on a call there's something they could perhaps go off there?

There are some very dodgy people around.

Hopefully the git had to burn his car and he wont get much back for it and he'll have to catch the bus for a bit or something. That might teach him a bit of a lesson if nothing else.

I'd find the bloody address of the owner from the old bill and send my nan round. She'd tell him off! lol

Glad your both ok and no one was injured. On a more pedantic note though you need to make sure you report it to the police. Don't suppose for one second he will have insurance and he won't report it but if you do not and he does you will be in the wrong and could be found guilty of the "hit and run" as you have failed to report an accident. Harsh as that sounds it is the law. It should be reported as soon as is possible and within 24 hours. If you have not reported it I would urge you to do so.
