How do you drive?

Van for me....like Bolter, started out with the car (Vauxhall Zafira), but started to trash it and couldnt carry all tools I needed, so out went the car and in came the Fiat Scudo Van.

I'm now on my second van. a 54 plate Nissan Primastar LWB

My First was a 96 Renault Trafic, which was fine. I had it before I started trading and used it as a 2nd car whilst renovating a property. When I started I already had the van so all was well until the diff died on me one day. Anyone who's ever tried to get a replacement gearbox for a 96 Renault Trafic will understand why I changed the van!

I own a van.

Started off by using my car. Totally screwed it up, and bought a £500 van, which was too small, but bigger than the car, and better to work from and so started earning me more money. Van died a death 2 yrs later and so I bought a new van that holds a decent weight, and Im earning more money. 100% worth it in my book.

Alot of people ask me how I can afford a new van, but really its not that expensive. Finance works out at £53 per week, which is like one small kitchen per week and the van is paid for. Plus my accountant assured me with some technical mumbo jumbo that as it is essential for work, I get to claim back "enter numbers here" on it, of which I got the first lot in April when I submitted my tax return. Now sure, you can blow this on what you want, but if you are clever you will put it in a savings account and earn money on it. And if you fall short for some reason, you have money to make payments.

Also I suggest registering for VAT, and then subsequently claiming that back, and doing a similar thing with the money.

I'm not vat registered but have claimed the 50% amount for my van including the vat amount on the payment

I don't feel like a real tiler yet because I'm driving around in a Golf GTi. A piece of batton went through one of the air vents last week and the whole inside is full of dust and bits of tile etc. I really would like to get a big 4x4 (for work and family reasons).
