Same opinion from Germany: Calculate 2,7 - 3,0 kg/m2, so your 3-4 bags 20 kg should be absolutely enough, Martin

Depends on the tile and how level your floor is. If it is large format tile and a large format 15mm solid bed trowel is being used then your tiler is about right. I used 3 and a half bags yesterday on a 7m floor 600x600 over uth cables with a PTB flex. He/she is maybe just being cautious. I blame the tile shops for not telling people that for larger tiles the trowel size goes up and you should be using an adhesive capable of bedding that bit thicker.

I always work on 4m2 per 20kg bag depending on size of tile and condition of substrate ive always got a bit spare in the shed if i run short.

4 bags would do your job

They don't mean 7.5kg bags like BAL Fastflex instead of 20kg??? If so 7 bags would be just about right.

Go with Dave and Fred 20kg covers approx 5 sq m. So thats 4 bags. That is with a 10 mm trowel. Remember size of tile is irrelevant just floor coverage.

Each to their own but size of tile determines which trowel I would use so that would definetly have a bearing on adhesive coverage.

same here,i agree with DS aswell, every job is different and so you cant gauge how far you will get out a 20kg bag as it depends how flat the floor is and if its running off you will use more adhesive.

I have a 15mm solid bed round notch that I use for LF Tiles. It eats addy and caught me out big time the first time I used it. Brian C also very valid point IMO about floors being uneven. Most floors of late i have laid are LF tiles and some are getting extreme. The tiler is not ripping you off just not wanting to be left out of pocket for giving you as level a floor as he/she can....IMO of course.
