out of interest, what brand was this good quality 'sealer'.
Ventilation is an absolute must.

trickle vents are good idea and a low modulus Silicon ive used it in mine and its worked fine. hope you get it sorted

black/dark green mould is aspergillus niger a fungus that can be found in all shower areas where there is inadequate ventilation. Once the spores are present it can be difficult to get rid of. Provide decent ventilation then rake out all Silicon, brush bleach solution into the gap and allow to dry before refilling with decent Silicon that contains a fungicide

Rather tan Black/green it is a pinky/black.

We used Mapei Mapesil AC.

I will accept that the ventilation is the main problem.
I clean the shower area at least weekly with bleach solution. Will leave the shower door ajar in future. We have limited space so it us a bit awkward. I did not want to go to the expense of expelair really and we have pvc window with no space for a trickle vent. We live in North of UK and at this time of year we are reluctant to open the window, it's soooo cold!! Looks like we are going to have to though.

Thanks for all your advice.

Dettol mould and mildew spray actually works unlike most others, but as said you need to let the moisture out of the room somehow.
