i got tonsilitis

my throat is killing me and i feel light headed, i got a bad case of tonsilitis, i think i'll have to take the day off......










.....i forgot, i can't i'm self employed :mad2: oh well at least i got some penicillin in the cupboard. off to work i go rrr:

I had tonsilitis loads as a kid. thankfully back then doctors scheduled you in for minor surgery and I had mine whipped out when I was 8 years old. doesn't stop me getting tonsilitis though, it's just a different named infection. plenty of fluids too Mike. and if you can eat dry toast, do it, it scrapes the mucus off your tonsils.

i'm not too bad now, felt rough when i woke up though. i was getting tonsilitis every few months a few years back and my doctor said if i get it again in the near future he'll get them took out. sod's law i never had it again for a couple of years. i really suffer though as i've always had e.n.t. problems as a kid. penicillin should kick in soon

Mike, it's not easy, I know, can be pretty unpleasant. However, tonsils are pretty useful things to have, as a kind of filter they really do help reduce infections going into the chest or further into the body, so they if they are inflamed just think where that infection might have gone without them there. How come you have penicillin in the cupboard? I really hope you have been told to take at least 4 days worth and are not just taking the odd one left over from other courses you didn't complete? If you take the odd bit of anti-biotics that would really be asking for trouble in the long run. If you do want any educated advice, please do PM me - yes, I'm qualified

thanks gisela, i have a full course of penicillin due to me getting an infection after my recent snip ( i won't go into detail lol) i do know to finish the course though due to previous bad experiences! i'm hoping this is a rare occurence and won't need further treatment/advice but i thank you again for your consideration funny thing though, the local doctors stopped giving out ab's due to people becoming immune to them but are now handing them out willy nilly again
