come one Lee I want to know whose job it is ? amd more importantly why they didnt go back and correct the poor work ?
I'm with you gary, I want to know who it is, and yes why hasn't he gone back to correct. Or maybe that's why lee was there, the customer probably didn't want to call the guy back. I did a retile last week after someone did a real bad job. But when I was first there looking I did say to the customer they should be giving the other guy a fair chance to rectify what he has done. To which they declined. Maybe the case here.

I posted this "in good faith"......(with pictures).............
I have not mentioned "whom" did the job...(and i will not in the future) and all points have been taken on board..........especially Daves.....
but I have to state that this guy advertises himself as a "victorian and encaustic specialist"................he is taking "good quality" work away from professional tradesmen.......in my area.........
but its not just my area............there are several worthy tilers whom would have loved this job........they would have charged less (it was expensive!)...and would have done a much better job!

IMO!

is that fair?

all the best

Lee.......

Can I ask why he /they were paid then...just asking as I never understand clients who pay before checking out the work.

I am not sure TBH .......he is American and she is from Australia.......and they have a "very" small child.........all I got from them is......
they wanted the work done "prior" to them moving into the abode.....and therefore paid in advance......in good faith............the job is not finished.....all this aside......paying in advance is not a crime......
I have to admit it has never happened to me......but then again......I HAVE NEVER ASKED FOR THAT!........

there are still a few M2 by the bi fold doors to complete.....

so he has dissapppeared.....IMO

Good on you Lee, fair points. It's only curiosity that I wanted to know who it was. Human nature I guess. They sound like lovely customers though, real shame. Karma will definitely catch up with this guy I'm sure, or hope....

I too have never understood clients paying before the job is completed, I have never taken any money before the job is entirely completed.....even if it is just a bead of Silicon,(I think you can get complacent if you receive funds before completion). Now once the job is completed.....that is a different matter

Mr T

well im just glad my name wasn't mensioned lol... I agree with what sir ramic said if you don't feel up to the task you don't do it end of but also if you feel confident to start a job and screw it up it must be rectified no matter what it doesn't matter how bad a job gets its worse if its left unfinnished and as a tradesman you will be slated when you come across one of these families you have ripped off.

Time's Ran Out

Whoever it is isn't a tradesman he's an opportunist!
But as for taking money before completion Bah!
Wait until you've lost thousands when 2/3 companies go bust or a customer waits 3 months to pay you then see if you don't get as much as you can before completion!
I'am still waiting for the 'customer from hell' programme to be made.

I'm going through court to get paid on a job I completed last June!
Its only ever happened to me three times including this one where I've not been paid. It always has a serious effect on your business.

I've always got my money in the end. But its a long and painful process.

tiles a £5 each John.......they are on a "wet" heated screed......it's lipping to hell and back (4-5mm per tile!).....and it's as flat as a camels back (10mm gaps in 1.5m") and thats being nice!...........his cutting around door frames is.....well....
how can I be nice.........? unprofessional.........will that do?.........

not to mention he has no clue how to install encuastics..........has no idea on the procedure....(from what the client has told me!) let alone the execution.........
and he is a forum MEMBER!...........

oooooooohhh!.....

Did he get paid?...............was he intoxicated at the point of setting out?
