Freds thread got to me a little for some personal reasons but anyway..i started doing a job for an old couple 77 yr old,old boy was a character. The job was outdoor steps which i had to replace old tiles and make good the steps. The treads were a riot with loads of sandy cement on and the tiles came off no probs.Took the tiles back to the bare step only to find the bottom step is loose etc and needs building out(shuttered)i hate finding more probs for old people as it means more money for them but they said they were greatful i was honest and didnt just tile on top of the uneven /loose surface. Its getting sorted in the morning.

it's knowing what to do for the best too, I mean to put their mind at ease. Nobody good and decent would rip anybody off, but I think in the case of old folks it's always an idea to maybe get their grown up kids round, and explain the problems you've uncovered, so, in effect, you've covered your own backside and reputation too!

the step was only tiled a few years ago ontop of tiles...nightmare.Thats why i took it back to the bone..took me a couple of hours, had grinder out etc but now all square and clean ready for the shuttering of the bottom step and tiling of the other step.Point i was trying to make was the original tiler(used loosely)made a pigs ear of it and was out for a quick buck.Personally i couldnt sleep at night but thats just me.
