Do any of you guys no the cost of the ICA six week course?

I am doing a years course at college which unfortunatly will not have a formal certifaction afterwards (just a standard attendance certificate issued).

I would be very interested in attending the ICA course to work towards obtaining an NVQ when my college course is finnished.

Aany info would be appreciated. I did contact the course provider but, have not yet heard enything.

p.s. I would be interested in hearing your opinion on whether or not you feel formal certification is usefull. (Obviously I do) lol

Hi Kris,

This is a common thing that we find is occuring all the time. Infact, we have 2 guys here right now doing an ICA because their 2 year college course wasn't up to scratch. They want to get on with tiling, instead of sitting around in a classroom all day long, trying to learn with idiots playing around all the time and re using the same tiles that the last class had just used.

They are also enrolling onto their NVQ2 immediately after their course and will be fully qualified @ level 2 by this summer.

Qualilfications are they way forward, especially if you want to work on big contracts and building sites etc. By 2010, you will need a qualification to work in these areas otherwise you will not get the work.

Also, joe public is becoming very wary of cowboys, and a qualification will almost definately give you the upper edge on your domestic quotes helping you obtain more work and better work. - I must point out here that I am in no way running down experienced guys that don't want a qualification - experience as always, counts for a lot. But joe public are not to keen these days on taking the word of the contractor that he is good and 'properly trained'. They want to see a certificate unfortunately......

If you think we can help you, then click on our links you will see dotted around the forums. :)

Good Luck!
