I studied German at school and worked there in a previous life, so managed to get along quite well (Didn't mention the War and I think I got away with it!!)

My choice would be Italian, very expressive.

Yeh Arabic would be the correct language lol... The sihks are always welcoming and even if theyre talking there language you dont feel its an insult... But certain shops they are blatently saying something. Would just love to know whats being said. But I think German would be my language of choice also.

When I lived and worked in South Africa I picked up and got by on Afrikaans, some Zulu, Tswana and the mine language Fanagalo, now I am going to take a crash course in Spanish, fingers crossed I get by on it in a month.

I'd like to learn a bit of Finnish, then I could say I can get by on all 4 Scandinavian languages, but it's a weird language, get on ok with Swedish and Danish as it's similar to Norwegian. Got talkin to a Bulgarian plumber a few weeks ago who informed me he spoke the most widely spoken language in the world, so I said Spanish? He said that wasn't the most spoken language in the world, I said it was, he said it wasn't, was ready to knock him out as I'd heard that on Q.I and I won't have anyone call Stephen Fry a liar, so I said yes, numpty, Spanish is the most spoken language in the world. He said No No No! I speak the most spoken language in the world, Bad English! Had to give him that one...

Spent a year on Rhodes in mid 90's, all I learned was "yamass malaka"
