I am really under the cosh right now, and the upshot is, we took in 7 tonnes of stone yesterday for a job, took 6 hours to unload it and move it onto site for work this morning.

Was up at 5, out onto site and they were all standing there giving me daggers. In my fit of stupidness, I didnt pull the crate in with all the skirtings in and now we cant get it till Monday. I got slaughtered, and they were right to be upset, I dont even know how to make amends for this. I am officially hated right now.

I have NO idea what you're talking about there, Lynn. But you're feeling bad, I understand that much. So I'm sending a hug, like I do. :)

It happens Pebbs.Have done plenty of work on large sites.Have lost days because of logistis/**** ups/management error.
Hold your hands up/its your fault.Get everything on track monday & tuesday.Do a late start wednesday,(not too late) you are buying breakfast,in a proper cafe. If you treat them as people and not as workers, all will be ok.(If you already treat them well and they dont get it,get rid.) I guess you do high end,so who you employ are not idiots,(I hope). It may not make up for your error but it will go a long way in the (im sorry for the cockup ) situation.

Hi Pebbs, I learned long ago via the military that when you mess up, just say clearly "I made a mistake, it's my fault, and now let's try to get started again". That seems to disarm all but the lunatics. What else can they do?

A few breakfasts and some cases of beer at the end of the work week....and all will be forgotten eventually.

I doubt anyone on your crew can point out a perfectly run jobsite. (if they can, let me know and I'm coming over to England to see it! )
