I'm not disagreeing with you, it's just what the manufacture states in their instructions, take a look please, page 11, I'd be interested in your view.
i have read it... the jointing "caulk" is applied and excess removed, this principal works PROVIDING you caulk the gap without any holes!

better to bridge the gap IMO!

then you know the gap is bridged..not almost filled!

i am sure it works!

but you have to be bob on with the caulk!

I've just read that entire thread, and I must say I'm very impressed, it is nice to see someone who really takes pride and care in their work, it looks absolutely stunning! Also the attention to detail you pay, such as checking the level to make sure no ones walked on the tiles overnight, that's the sort of thing that impresses me, great job well done.

Like your couple who got you to look at their botched job, I've been caught out by tradesmen over the years, even ones that have come highly recommended - had an absolute nightmare when I got a local builder to build the shell of our extension, many a problem including two serious structural ones, one of my favourites is a 4 meter section of two story wall built on polystyrene, and even the building inspector missed that, I only found out as something did not look quite right, and I decided to investigate. This is why I prefer to do what I can myself, apart from saving money, I know the jobs done right.

I'll post some pictures of my tiling in my new members post.

my pleasure big man!

p.s building inspectors "inspect", they do no detect!

my company gives them photos of construction, hence easier passes, providing we did it right!

Dagger.

My building inspector is also satisfied with my work and quite happy to let me proceed now until finished, I take photo's so can prove what and how I've done the work just in case, and for my own records.

I'd also like to mention that I'm seriously considering changing my career to the building trade, and this is one of the reasons I'd rather know why something should be done a certain way, rather than just being told that's the way it should be done, understanding why makes for a far better informed person, which I think leads to a better job done.
