as sweaty sock said your accountants fee is tax deductible, and like gaz said if the revenue come knocking you want someone who knows the system, otherwise they will walk all over you, do the day to day stuff yourself obviously but get a chartered acccountant to do your end of year returns definitly worth their fee

Get an accountant, for my 350 quid(plus vat) he has saved me a few thousand. they know what to claim for and how. worth every penny

Ahhh inside contacts do pay off mate eh?

Put your cash in the bank, ie through your business. Dont give discounts for cash, just say 'it doesnt matter as cash or cheque it all goes through the business'. It means when your about to agree on a job they cant hit you with wanting more discount for cash. If they want you to do a job chances are they will pay what you ask.

Don't neccessarily need to be chartered! Non chartered can be just as efficient as chartered and maybe will cost you less. I have taken work from chartered accountants that have made some real c*ck-ups, leading to the tax man taking a great interest!

I have customers who pull out bundles of folding stuff, and say "cheaper for cash mate".?....I say " well no actually.it will cost slightly more"..A bemused "why"?."because now I have to go to the bank".....Gaz

I use an accountant. He deals with the tax returns and the dreaded VAT. Quite surprising really the poll on here everyone in General seems to use an accountant but the poll is top heavy the other way:huh2:

I use an accountant myself. I'd rather spend a few quid and leave it to someone who knows what they're doing. The accountant will know all the tricks and how to get you paying the least amount possible/nice rebate. 🙂

im in my first year so havent had a tax return yet, but my sister has just moved in with an accountant so i think i will be looking for a 'discount' on his services come next tax return!!
