I remember Pavarotti being interviewed . He had a f40 on order but because demand exceeded supply by the time he recieved it , it was worth twice the amount he paid for it .

Yes, it's true. a friend of mine found one in Costa Rica years ago.
for around € 500,000 and bought it.
now after a decade they offered him € 1,000,000
but he did not sell it.
