Let's debate , Rubi or Sigma.

Their range is massive, have you seen the catalogue?

I have a rubi rail saw, not cheap and not great quality...wandering blade is very annoying. I have never liked the rubi cutting action from day one. I do however like their trowels.

They are turning very 'David Guetta'. As you say, not concentrating on what they did well, now interested in farming out average gear by the container load.

Nice one Ed. Your bang on about sales. They have been here for a few years now and I myself used to work for them in London. (There is not much I don't know about them). We have only been here for just over a year so there is alot of room to move forward. Both brands have been established since way before my time on this earth and both brands can be found all over the globe along with a few others. It's down to what you feel confortable with and if it works day to day. I do think though they should have stuck to what they have always done and improved designs etc... Now there are lot's of DIY ranges from these people which is a shame as they started out producing quality tools meant just for tilers full stop!. Plus they make a massive range of gardening tools "cutman" we do don't do gardens. We have manual tile cutters first designed and made by a tiler from Italy. And a handful of electric machines that are built to order. I'm not going to diss anyone as there is room for everyone and at the end of the day it's you who puts us where we are?.

i agree mate..i like them from a user point of view but the quality is suspect. iv'e got to buy some cutters this week and i am so close to biting the bullet and buying another 3c and a sigma 2g and just making myself like them because they make sense, but i am a fff er for doing things that don't make sense ;0) but lifes about taking risks isnt it ;0)

Who gives a monkeys what machine we prefare? I love the banter, but at the end of the day as long as we turn out a first class job does a brand name matter? I do hope this debate continues for years to come. I must say I would like to see more concern about the lack of real training in this industry rather than what brand of cutters we use.

Having said that, I do like the Rubi/Sigma ongoing rivalry, and get a real buzz from it. I do have serious doubts about the future of this trade.:smilewinkgrin:

the training could be sorted very easily Phil if we had a liscensed trade, when any one can start up a tiling company with no experience or qualifications then there is no need for a qualifications or training . a liscensed trade would go along way to strengthen the skills base needed in my opinion there are lots of good examples around the world such as Germany,the USA and Australia.we seem to want to import our tradesmen rather than train our own which leaves a whole generation of young brits on the scrapheap in my opinion

I'm all for licensing and it'd work well in commercial contracts but for a high percentage of domestic work there would be a lot of customers saving money by going for an unlicensed tiler.

But staying on topic, the unlicensed tilers would probably be using Rubis.
