i looked at a job today, floor to tile in a cellar, the problem is there is a well in the middle. it has a pump and flow switch to keep the water out. the room is dry but does flood from time to time last flooded 3 yrs ago. can anyone give me some advice on adhesive and grouts to use. cheers Ben
BAL Mosaic-fix will be fine and dandy for adhesive. Maybe BAL Floor epoxy grout as it is waterproof.

You want to simply use a cement based adhesive and grout for that. And keep it standard and not waterproof as when it floods you will want the water to flow through the 'cosmetic' layer (the tiles) and back into the floor so the pump and well can do it's job to shift it out properly.

If you used epoxy on that you'd find you'd create a puddle needing to run off into the well which means you'd need to create a wet-room type floor which isn't needed as it probably wont have DPM under the concrete.

Standard rapid set adhesive and wide-joint grout will do.

try using waterproof grouts and adhesives

No such thing exists. The term is just cement-based - As cement doesn't break back down when in contact with water - though it certainly isn't a barrier against moisture. Just for future reference.

swimming pool stuff:grin:

No such thing again really. Same as above. You'd perhaps change the adhesive or grout just due to the type of tile you're fixing in the swiming pool and you'd fill it at a slow rate etc but the material can be even as simple as 3:1 sand:cement used as both adhesive and grout in a lot of the pools in the UK providing the owner doesn't allow it to freeze at any point (empty it or heat it)
