but it looks like all your questions and tenacity paid off. I have seen many bathrooms tiled by so called "professionals" far far worse than yours. You deserve a round of applause Girly, well done!

Yeah, but you haven't seen all the er, balls-ups which I've not taken photos of :smilewinkgrin:, and I'm sure if I zoomed in a bit, you'd be able to pick it to pieces, but still, yeah, considering the job that was there, and considering there's around 14 different surfaces/angles, I think I'm happy enough. I know there are areas that when I'm sitting in the bath, I'm going to curse myself for not re-doing them, but hey ho :smilewinkgrin:

Will post up photos of before and after later. Haven't started sealing yet, b/f's just made me another cup of tea. Very hard to get any work done when you have to keep going to pub and b/f keeps making tea

Just attepting to do the seal but making a right pig's ear of it. :mad2:
Have now put masking tape on the edges in the hope that it doesn't stick underneath the silicon. I know you told me about that tape, but I never got round to getting it. Wondering how long I should leave the masking tape up before attempting to rip it off.

It will probably pull the Silicon off Minnie if you leave it too long, try and cut a small angled hole in the nozzle, this will give you a thinner line which is easier to work with, Try the washing up liquid approach, it will help you loads. Just have a practice first.

already did the washing up liquid approach, but I was using a bigger nozzle (the remains from when I sealed bath to wall) and I was doing the window sill. Because I'm too scared to stand on my horizontal tiles in case they crack, I was working at an awkward angle.

Anyway, put masking tape on other joins and making less of a hash of it. Have spent the last half hour trying to remove the sealant from the window sill area. It's a total mess. :lol:

I didn't use a catapult. Why do things small when you've got a big job. I used one of these

bah, and I was at Topps yesterday getting the Bal grout. Didn't know they sold that stuff.

Anyway, the grey tape (not sure what it's called) was a bad mistake. Left adhesive on the tiles and lifted the sealant. However, Kleen Edge masking tape is fine as it's non-tacky and comes off without lifting the sealant.

thanks for that Suzie but the instructions state that you need a mechanical mixer on a slow speed setting. what about the DIYers out there that don't have a mechanical mixer and have to mix by hand?

You can get a paddle from the pound shop etc....price hmmmmm £1 and most people have a drill

Don't mind me while I bump some old but popular threads to see if the topic is still active in some way. Wondering if either the original idea or original issue still exists. I've done this with quite a few threads, so don't be offended if this is just jargon these days and not applicable. But I thought there might be a small chance a small percentage of the small number of threads might just be slightly applicable and the thread could get a new lease of life.

There IS going to be a bigger chance when i do this, that the thread is dead. So don't worry if that's the case, just don't reply to it, and we'll all move on and let the thread drop out of view again.
