Minefield of tanking solutions - Help which one for me?

Hi all - new member here would like some advice on which tanking solution would suit me.

The situation is a new build extension garage with an ensuite wetroom/bathroom coming off the main bedroom. Due to finacial reasons we asked the build to stop once the major stuff was done and I'm doing the rest (plumbing etc) So far the room has the following installed

Hansgrohe ibox's for the bath, shower and basin and associated plumbing
Geberite wall mount loo frame
Lighting
Marmox boards butt sealed with silicon/tape and adhesive on a stud wall to Marmox instructions.
Enercable UFH in screed shaped with falls to drain which is a Mcalpine 50mm trap with the mounting flange level with screed top. Some levelling will need to be done as the backerboards straight edge showed a slight dip in the ajacent corner of approx 5mm

110mm drain and 22mm pipe coming up through the screed for the freestanding bath

The advice I need is what would be the best way of tankning the floor to the walls and drain. Mcalpine say use a membrane under the clamp ring but I can't source a membrane anywhere. I was looking at the Schluter DITRA system with Kerdi matt under the clamp ring and tape around the walls, as their drain mambrane only seems to be available with the whole drain kit is this feasable?

Another option was to use one of the Mepei/Ardex/BAL tanking kits to brush on the solution and them clamp once dry. Is this a good idea?

My biggest concern at the moment is the drain screed interface and getting that right, wether I go for the liquid method or DITRA/matting. DITRA is a uncoupling membrane, can the liquid methods provide a similar function

The walls will be Travertine and the floor, travertine mosaic

Thanks in advance for any tips or any other ideas that come forth

Hello mark....I would say you need to use Dural Wp on the floor...Ditra isn't suitable for mosaics under 50mm in size if i recall correct..But the thinner Dural wp is fine and will work better with the collar on the drain..

Thanks for the rapid reply. Another tanking kit to add to the rest 😀

The room size is 2.9m by 2.6m so would the 10m2 kit cover all I need. ie 100mm ish up the wall and corners etc How many corners are in the kit? Do you know

I presume this matting is secured using a non-modified adhesive?

I've noticed there is another product Durabase CI. What would be the difference between the two and is one prefered over the other?

Thanks for any information to a newby

Hi again mark..

like for like...

Ditra...Dural Ci is the same

Kerdi...Dural Wp is the same...

Just yellow instead of orange,,,

Have you used the marmox on the floor as well..?

Have you used the marmox on the floor as well..?

No just on the two walls that will be tiled to the corner of the wet area. Mainly to carry the tile weight but the added waterproofing of the board is a bonus

Thanks for the advice - After spending an afternoon driving around various tiling/plumbing places in Poole/Bournemouth and finding nothing, ten minutes on the Forum solves my problem - fantastic

Looks like an order will be on it's way to Wetdecs soon 😀

No probs mark..give wetdecs a phone call and he will tell you what you need to order...

good luck and let us know how you get on..

OK

I ordered a 10m2 CI kit yesterday from Wetdecs after talking on the phone. The mosaics are 50mm so they'll be OK. All I need now is adhesive. Can you suggest/recommend one that'll be OK for the matting and also for the travertine to stick to the wall marmox boards

I'm picking the wall tiles up tommorow from North London (saves £60 delivery) so hopefully will have the walls except bottom row finished by the end of the week 😀

Thanks
