My current job

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

This has happened to me on a number of occasions. Ceramic or Porcelain......to the customer it’s just a tile. To the tiler it is more cost in addy, blades/hole cutters and cutting time. Saying that, I have always told the customer the extra costs, but have never charged them extra. This is partly in the hope of repeat business from the customer (not yet happened) or a tip at the end of the job (not yet happened). No more Mr Nice guy. Next time I will charge them extra. You have to explain & justify the extra costs/time. I don’t know what your porks are like, but some of my previous customers porcs really added an extra 5-10 mins cutting time per tile. Cheers Sean

i used to charge differently ceramic and porcelain but it depends what kind of porcelain im cutting some take longer than other i would add extra for sealing if its polished but id bite the bullet this time in hope of repeat work but lesson learned

I don't charge extra for porcelain tiles unless they are a lot more work than normal.

They cut on a dry cutter and not really any extra time installing... not as if they are stone is it.

Me neither

If you've got the correct tools, it doesn't really matter enough to justify charging extra - although 'alleged tiler' folk in my area do make a big song and dance about fixing porcelain

Not in anyway having a pop at you Fred mate:thumbsup::

Charge the same here as well, no difference in fitting them unless you've to seal the porcelain.
