I don't normally knock the power either, my lad said to me one day that he got a shock.
I laughed but he was adamant, lol, turned out there was a problem as every screw was live.
The builder was contacted and a spark was on site within 20 minutes !!!

i hate it when the sparks cram about ten wires into the socket and when you losen it to tile behind they fall out and you light up like a christmas tree.

He has just come in and seen i posted this... apparently i am fatherless...

Had a close one yesterday as the spark left cables live and hanging from ceiling and walls etc on the job Im on. I mentioned it to him today and he said it must have been in contact with the old conduit in the property as it was live:yikes: idiot should have brought that to our attention or at least tried to isolate it. (think he forgot to disconnect the new wiring before leaving though and just didnt want to admit it)

 can't blame him really, can you... bless him... 🙂

can I just ask - it kind of fits in here - got a loose double socket in the kitchen, the screw seems to go into nothing, the socket plate comes out really far - how do I fix this?

the crew might be too shor or the thread may be knackered. Turn of the supply and have a wee look or try a longer screw.

If one fits but the other doesnt, take them both out to see if they are the same lenght
