So with all of the building work out of the way, plastering done. Shower plumbed in tile boards up I've finally been able to get around to something vaguely tiling related... tanking!

The corner is (of course) not square, hence the recessed area!

So thats the state of play, its taken few months to get here but you can probably see why!

Yeah, definitely as @antonio says, pack out the bottom of your niche with a bit of hardie to something, then you can use non-cut tiles at the bottom of the niche.....
Great work so far - lovely building stuff and everything, the thing that dreams are made of!

Thanks for the encouragement! After 20 years of DIY I feel like I'm finally getting (almost) semi-competent!

I'm interested to know why you guys would pack out the recess? Everything I read said cut edges everywhere and never butt up tiles, is this the one exception that proves the rule? was gonna do the recess in metro too but I'm starting to think mosaics (I know how predictable!) might look ok...

Floor primed ready for UFH..

Heres a silly question. Do I great first then silicon the corners, or the other way round. Or doesn't it make much difference?
