New member with tiling problem

The 12mm backer board wont help if its a deflection issue though, will need to be 15mm min ply.

Am I getting something very wrong here?

If you look at the pics some of the pockets in the mat appear to be very clean in areas suggesting there wasn't any adhesive in there in the first place. I know myself you have to work the adhesive into fill the pockets. If there's a lot of air under the tiles there would be instability and possibly a crunching/cracking noise underfoot.

:welcome:Rob - This membrane is not one I have personally used, however in my humble opinion - and may I be bold in making an observation from your pictures supplied - I suspect that your matting has been installed upside down and that the 'material' flex side should be fixed with a flexible adhesive to the plywood and the 'plastic' circular sheet on the top to provide the waterproof layer to be overscreeded.

I have noticed that some rolls of this type of product are packaged the 'wrong' way and do not provide easy installation by rolling out.

I am pretty sure it has been laid upside down so tilies will need taking up and old mat , check to see if any movement in ply re mat and tile

Taken from the Genesis instaltion sheet
Installation
1. Substrate:
The substrate must be stable, level and free of loose material. Before installation, the GMAT mats are cut to the
required dimensions. Thin bed mortar or fluidised bed mortar is applied to the substrate using a 4 x 4 mm serrated
trowel. The tile adhesive must be matched to the substrate. Best results are usually achieved with hydraulically
bonding thin bed mortar, flex mortar or fluidised bed mortar.
Recommendations for ideally matched products can be obtained directly from Genesis.
2. Installation:
Then the mats, with their woven carrier fleece facing downwards, are pressed into place and hammered flat. The thin
bed mortar must form a strong mechanical bond with the carrier fleece under the GMAT mat. The mats must be laid in
the thin bed mortar within the setting time of the adhesive. Access crawl boards should be used to prevent damage to
the mats during installation.

I have just looked at the pics, the mat has been laid the right way up. I had a problem with a Genesis mat not long ago, I cut through the mat 1m2 and ripped it up, the genesis rep was a witness. It seperated exactly like the pictures, the rep told me this is just what should happen. The fleece stayed anchored to the floor, the top just peeled off clean. Sorry this doesn't shed any light on the problem.

So there is fleece on one side and mesh on the other ?. Looking at the pictures on the PDF it shows that the product has been installed correctly but looking at the photos on here it shows no fleece unless this was removed with the tile and G Mat ??
