I'm not sure I can get to grips with the new system Dan, how is everbody else finding it?

I didn't like it at first, but then saw the benefits of including posts that I might have missed first time round. but i'm back to disliking it. As soon as veiw a thread it disappears from the 'New posts' list and if I can't remember what the title was it's lost until somebody else replys to it, also it doesn't show the threads i've just replyed to.

Before it would just show the threads that had been updated after my last visit but even if i replied or viewed the thread it would till stay in the 'New posts' search which i liked

Anyway you can combine the benefits of both systems Dan?

Thanks for all the hard work:thumbsup:

Drop the quick links down Rob.. and view todays posts to see old threads or recent ones you replied to...

ahhh I've used that before but forgot about it.

At ease everybody:smilewinkgrin:

You're right it has changed a bit. I thought the feature just added the "you have X unread posts since your last visit" line but clearly it's screwing with the whole new posts system.

You can do the 'Today's Posts' thing as Dave said. Or we can give this a go for a few days and if it's still annoying I'll get shut of it.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused guys. Didn't mean to do that.

Right, Dave's just found out by asking on a forum, and I just worked it out at the same time (weirdometer going on there). lol

If you click new posts, you only see the posts that you're yet to reply to again. So the old display showed you even posts you had contributed to and were the last poster of.

So this new way doesn't show you a thread if you are the last person to post.

Which could be a good thing.

Perhaps we'll get used to it. Keep me posted (no pun intended) if you don't in a few days though and I'll remove it.

I thought it would be cool to have that line in the welcome bit though that tells you how many posts you need to read, i thought it would help with member activity.

It is good system once your used to it, it can be a pain at first, another way of seeing what's going on in threads you've posted in is click on the user control panel tab, if there's been a reply since you lasted posted, it will show in there.

We'll give it a few days and if we still don't like it I'll get shut of it.

Though I reply quite a bit (obviously) and the old "New Posts" bit was normally full of posts with me as the last poster, so pointless being there? dunno. This new system only shows posts I've not read since somebody else has replied, which is what the new 'New Posts' feature does on the newer vbulletin forum software that we're using for contractorforum.co.uk. So I think it might be the way to go.

As a bit of a work around though, click "Quick Links" and then the top link that says "Today's Posts" and you'll see the full list.

Give it a day or two guys and we'll go from there.
