i thought it was just me and sent Dave a pm but glad its just the new thingmabobber,,aye that one.

You never do like changes.....

I thinkit is ok...i am used to it as it is the same system on an admin forum we use..

You know, I think I was looking for a thread once on there that I'd replied to and thought it had been removed! lol - Clearly it's this thing. Stunner.

erm, I don't see what's different apart from the *** unread posts options in my top right box 😳

How do you normally browse the forum Liz? Do you just go to the forum that you want to look at and read the list of threads. Some of us just log on and hit the 'New posts' button at the top of the screen, they way it searches for posts has changed slightly and give different results to how it did before. Some useful info is included in the new search that it didn't before, but it is also leaving some out now.

I click New Posts all the time Rob (when I'm not viewing Who's Online 😉 )

I'm beginning to see what's changed... I'll get used to it no doubt

Basically, if you click the new posts button at the top of the forum, it used to show all new posts, even ones in which you're the last person to reply. Though now it's all new posts that you have NOT replied to. So people thought their posts were missing totally, when in fact they're just not shown up now. So it makes the 'new posts' button and the 'todays posts' link in the quick links menu different now, where as before they were sort of the same.

That's all duck. 🙂

If you reply to a post then you don't need to see it again till someone replies...If you do then you use the todays post tab...or when someone replies it will appear back in the new posts...as in there is anew post that is available to read...hence the unread posts in your user box..

This is a better system and allows you and all members to keep track of unread posts..

Let's say you logged out for the night...all unread posts in the old system after 15 mins were marked as read...

This new system remembers ALL your unread posts until read or marked as read AND any newer ones..

Surely this is better..?

I not having trouble with the new set up. The number of unread posts in my log in box is a bit confusing though. It keeps going up and down and I keep trying to keep up. 147 unread posts last time I looked :yikes:
