I am a new member of this forum, I am not trying to make a name for my self or try to be controversial. if my opinion does differ from yours so what.

I dont care about Trade nor do I care about Diy I do care about the single person like Fiona.

Al without the smilie.
I asked in post 21 what your reasons were for your statement as a matter of interest, you haven't given a reply. Could you say why you don't think she would get "get her money back"?

Grumpy we got a lady here with a husband two kids and a house to run do you really think her mind will stay on tiling for to long. lets deal with reality and not waste time by splitting hair. should Fiona decide to go on with it, then I will be first in line to offer my help.

Leatherface I dont like to come in and start bragging about myself.

Hi mate
I in no way wish to become involved in an argument,
but if said lady wishes to diversify and escape the boredom of being a housewife and finding something to do that is more rewarding in her spare time and earn some extra money, then I THINK WE SHOULD ENCOURAGE HER.
Regards

Hi everyone.

I reread all my posts in this thread and for the life of me I cant see any reason why anybody could get upset about anything.
but just in case somebody did:8::8: I am buying

Al
I think you upset people for the following reasons
We pride ourselves on this forum for being the friendliest and most helpful. The most skilled lads don't pull newbies apart and tell them to stay at home out of the way. You refered to post 26 where leatherface advised her to try to gain experience then in the following post advised her to stop at home? Said with smilies so I take it it was only tongue in cheek!
I don't think Fiona is a threat to any professional tiler out there she only wants a bit more in her life, when you stop wanting to learn then you might as well pack in. You are not against tiling schools but you don't want newbies threatening the old school but we find that some of the 'course' boys turn out as skilled and concientious as the old boys. Yes , at the moment it is a survial of the fittest and unfortunately some will fall by the way side but won't this leave us with the best tilers out there!

Wow Fiona quite a thread you started and yes AW I will have a pint off you cheers

Hi Fiona,

Firstly welcome to the Forum.

Don't listen to anyone who tells you to give up before you have even started.

In my opinion ( this might be a bit of a generalisation ) women make better tilers than a lot of men working out there in the industry.

I find just from teaching women on the course, they are tidier / more creative and more patient.

There is no reason in this day and age why a woman's place should just be at home doing the cleaning and looking after the kids.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do Fiona.

Well said Danny :hurray:

WOOOOOOWWWWWWW

What have I started!!!
Firstly Thank you so very much to all who have replied!!!! Some very good advice....some even controversial!!

Next......calm down lads, calm down (said in the best Geordie accent)

Someone suggested that I do the day course...which is probably the route I'll go.
Or as someone else suggested,....(that'll be thread no26!!) seeing if there is a tiler round here that is willing to take me under their wing..I'm in Southend, Essex. But I do think I'd need to get some basic skills before venturing down this road (for my own benefit as I wouldn't feel comfortable being "under the wing" and completely "blind" with it....that wouldn't be condusive to the person I'd be working with....)

As for the other threads about doing the tidying....it all got done...hoovering too..I know, I could maybe be the tiling tea lady......(tongue in cheek before any of you do get any ideas.....)

Now off to make pud for his truely and myself.....
night to all:grin:

You do make me smile whilst on here....its great
