Q
You only have to look at one of my typical wet room installs to see just how many movement joints there are and how it is essential that these are Silicon and not grout.

Totally different than going up to a skirting board is that ,even me,little widler the multi trader (well time served plasterer, much harder than tiling, that's why I now tile ,but who cares 🙂 ) Silicon tile to tile

don't feed the trolls mate, it aint worth it.......
Anyone who can make an expansion joint look anything better than average is a better man than me, apart from the fact they are not meant to be grouted!! Interestingly, I was grouting with micro max smoke a few weeks ago and was aware we had no matching Silicon so I grouted all the corner joints, I was not overly proud of the result but the customer was happy. Maybe we look to closely in to our work who knows but I will be sticking to Silicon for movement joints and grout for grout joints.
Tickles me, some of the comments on here, each to their own regarding grouting or siliconing up to skirting, I have done both over the years.......but would never ever grout any movements joints in a bathroom, just not the way to do it I'm afraid......and to use the excuse, I'm crap (sorry not the best) at siliconing so I grout is just lame, if you class yourself as a professional tiler you should be able to Silicon, get yourself a fugi kit and practice.
That isn't what I said!?! I Silicon over the grout. My Silicon is neat generally, but with the gap in the corner, the Silicon can sink in, which looks crap! And what do you do if you can't match the grout colour? Just use white? Classy!
Geoff, how do your pictures show that a Silicon movement joint is essential!?!
It's not hard to get a matching Silicon, if your Silicon is sinking in like you said then your just not doing it right, but hey if your happy with grouting expansion joints then siliconing over the top then crack on
